NewCEP helps discover hidden community talent
Newhaven Community Employment Partnership (NewCEP) is a subsidiary of the Newhaven-based charity, Newhaven Community Development Association (NCDA), which works with and strengthens local communities.
NewCEP has over 10 years’ experience helping local people to access work, learning and volunteering opportunities. It works with anyone in East Sussex, regardless of employment status. NewCEP offers free bespoke assistance to support local businesses with recruitment, induction, retention and training of staff, and has a proven strategy for supporting local businesses in today's tough economic climate.
The team provides free employment solutions to match local businesses with prospective employees with the right skills, knowledge and experience to fill vacant positions. The approach is flexible and personalised to suit each business’s needs.
Peacehaven-based business, Screen Solutions, has been working with NewCEP. Dan Valovin, Managing Director of Screen Solutions, said: “When I first visited the Team at NewCEP I was impressed by their set-up and the great work they do for so many groups in the community.
“Our involvement with the charity started with offering a work placement scheme to help local individuals out of long-term unemployment. Work placements are one of the steps that people can take towards permanent employment. They are fantastic work experience and allow an individual to demonstrate what they can offer to employers. We are proud to have helped people in our community back into full-time jobs, and have been able to offer a number of individuals a permanent role at Screen Solutions, starting with a modern apprenticeship.”
