LEAP Entrepreneurs

Set up by Lewes District Council and delivered by Edeal (Eastbourne & District Enterprise Agency Ltd) LEAP (Local Enterprise & Apprenticeship Platform) is dedicated to championing new enterprise within the Lewes District; it supports local people through a comprehensive training programme to help them with their plans to start a new business.

Not only do the LEAP delegates benefit from the intensive mentoring and support but the overall winner wins £2500 cash to help them get their business started. 

The LEAP 2016 Entrepreneur winner Tracey Horan started a business called Dolly Fixtures offering a quirky range of home furniture and accessories based on mannequins. In addition to winning LEAP Entrepreneur of the year, Tracey was also nominated in the category of start-up entrepreneur of East Sussex at the Best of East Sussex Business Awards where she was highly commended. 
Our 2017 winner was Anna Lane of Treatment Tents, Treatment Tents is the creation of a unique experience transforming any space into a world of relaxation, joy and peace bringing any individual to a point of tranquillity. Treatment Tents bring a ready-made spa to any location, whether that be hotels, festivals, hen parties, corporate days or local residences. Clients can be pampered in these stunning tents which offer bespoke services to businesses and private clients. They operate throughout the year and the packages are tailored to customers’ specific requirements which can range from a small indoor venue with one or two therapists to an outdoor spa with up to ten treatment pods and separate reception and hospitality areas.


The 2018 winner was Sarah Williams, Sara has set up a haberdashery shop with a café and classroom that will act as a community hub in Newhaven which can be accessed by all sectors of the community. This will be a place where like-minded people learn a new skill, combat isolation and encourage social contact and networking.
