15 delegates start their journey on the LEAP 2017 Entrepreneur Programme

Set up by Lewes District Council in 2013, LEAP (Local Enterprise and Apprenticeship Platform) is dedicated to championing new enterprise within the Lewes District. It guides local people through a training programme to help them with their plans to start a new business.

15 candidates have been selected to advance to further training comprising a series of 3 hour seminars covering law, social media, marketing and finance. They will also receive 1-2-1 mentoring from our team of dedicated business experts to help create a viable, strong and robust business plan.

These business plans will be judged by our expert panel who will award a cash prize of £2,500 for the winner and the runner up will receive £500.

All candidates will receive a support package up to the value of £350 once the business plan has been submitted.

Meet our 2016 winner and finalists

Winner - Tracey Horan of Dolly Fixtures

LEAP was the best thing that could possibly have happened to me when I was starting my business Dolly Fixtures. So much useful information from start to finish from experts in all fields and a mentor always happy to help.

Finalist -  Jennie Hallett of Beacon Health & Safety Services

Shock redundancy and wanting to prove to myself that I could run a business made me decide to take the LEAP. Now, thanks to the amazing mentoring and support provided via the LEAP Programme, I am the Director of Beacon Health and Safety Services Ltd.

Finalist - Natalie James of Stitch of Broad Street

'Leap gave me the confidence and support I needed to enable the dream of becoming my own boss a reality by opening Stitch of Broad Street’.

Finalist - Liz Rose of Elizabeth Rose Designs

I took the LEAP as a friend told me about this initiative and I felt really in need of some advice in terms of getting together a formal business plan. I had a back of the envelope plan but nothing that would stand up against getting investment if I wished to do so. Feel lucky to have been involved.
