Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need business insurance?

There are three forms of insurance that are compulsory for a business.

  1. Employers’ Liability – if the business has employees.
  2. Motor Insurance (including cover for business use) for business vehicles.
  3. Professional Indemnity – for certain professions e.g. Accountancy & Law.

Other insurances are discretionary, but their presence can lend credence and a sense of professionalism to your business. A decision on what types of insurance you might consider necessary can be made after a full appraisal of the risks involved, the consequences of being uninsured, and the costs of insurance. The most common types to consider are public liability, buildings & equipment, product liability, business interruption (sickness / disaster) and goods in transit.
